David ReberShaw pitched 76 innings and gave up 71 hits and 22 walks. 93 baserunners in 76 innings! That’s unconscionably ridiculous for a reliever who only pitches 1 inning per game. How can you be considered a setup man if you are putting more than one man on base when you are only asked to get 3 outs???

Phil AustinWhich one of the four rebuilding teams in our division is going to give us a run? They didn't need to break the bank with Shaw or Santana. Those would have been moves that handcuffed us. Let Shaw have his fun in Colorado and Santana with the basement dwelling Phillies. Neither of those guys will be difference makers, but they will be overpaid.

Pat BittingerWe had and I repeat "had" one of the best pitching staffs in MLB. Not just the starters but the other guys you need to give your starters rest and we're dealing them away. Totally dumb if you ask me and what have we gotten in return....nothing that I see!

Hank G PalmaShaw, Santana, who next? Bruce? Listening to WTAM this late afternoon, i was just shaking my head. The announcers werent that upset with losing Santana, basically said there still is no one in the Central Division who can beat the Tribe. Who cares? Is that acceptable? To true winners, it is not. There should only be 1 goal...World Series Champions.

Brad BancroftI don't understand the defense of Shaw. He did throw a lot of innings, sure. He also just came off of a season with the highest ERA of his career. He had more losses on his record than Kluber last year guys. He gave up 71 hits in 76 innings and 36 runs. Straight up, this guy did his job in games with big leads and blew a ton of close games. Can't wait to watch this cat get shelled out of Colorado. They overpaid by a lot. This is for the people asking for statistics to back the hate. He gives up 8.3 hits per 9 innings pitched. Cleveland rides its starting pitching and we all hold our breath when it gets turned over to most of the bull pen.

Michael SmithBrian Shaw could get your average to below-average guys out most of the time but when it came to the Heavy Hitters 90% of the time you blew it or left with the guy on base and the guy behind him would have to hold the lead and get him out makes him look better

Austin AkersHe was great for eating innings. But a 2 run or less game in either direction was in serious jeopardy if he was brought in. He is good, but he doesn't have the mentality for the role he used in. I think he gets exposed in that ballpark too.

Jason DeRiveraWe're probably going to start losing guys again because Dolan is a cheapskate. Now that many of those untested rookies have proved their worth, he can't get them for peanuts anymore and he'll try to get them on cheap deals. Why can't our other team owners be like Dan Gilbert and willing to spend, especially because baseball has no real salary cap.

Dan MatuszewskiBest of luck Bryan, he didn't always get the outs but for 5 years took the ball over and over again. Cleveland needs to sign someone instead of just losing players

Russell RowleyAre we getting/keeping any free agents? And don't say McAllister, because you know damn well he's not a prime piece of this team. Edit: The only good that can come from not resigning Shaw is if his workload starts taking a toll on his body and he significantly depreciates in pitching quality this year.

Avatar

Brennon McWatersI love how statistics prove that he wasn't near as awful as you people make him out to be, in fact the stats prove the opposite of what you think about him. He was responsible for waaaaaay more wins than losses and that's a fact. Based on the amount of holds he had.

Avatar

Adam GlassWhether he saved or blew games is irrelevant now, a 2 inning pitcher should be easy to replace, they just need to replace him with someone better. I'm not saying Shaw was "bad" but it's time to improve, not settle for less.

Jason DeRiveraJust as important as Jackie Robinson. For black fans of AL teams, in the years before interleague play, this was how they got to witness one of their own play our game. Larry endured the same abuses, they didn't say they'd be kinder to the second black player. Jackie and Larry leaned on each other for support and they made America's game a truly national past time.

Richie CroweGonna miss this guy. My favorite Indian. He was the most well rounded player. Could mash the ball and could play any position. Never whined and cried about anything. Just went out and played. Loved watching him play in Cleveland. I hope he comes back after his time in Philly.

Mike BrothersJust goes to show you it’s about about the money. If he really wanted to stay in Cleveland like he claims they could have worked out a deal!!! Now he’s got 60 million and playing for a crap team!!!!! Good luck to you!!!!!!!!

Bob CorrotoI hope they make our front office go thru a drug test, because they are clearly smoking crack!!!! They decide to give money to a guy, that in all reality, has not contributed to our success the last two years, someone who has spent the majority on the DL. I am talking about Brantley, or as I call him...Dr. Maloach!! He was not part of what we did two years ago, on a team that should have won it all. He played last year up to just after the all-star game, and we played mediocre AT BEST. Then, hold on to your socks, he got hurt AGAIN!!! Then we actually started playing good ball. He was not part of the 14 game or 22 game winning streak!! So now we lose two guys...Shaw and now Carlos....who actually were part of the reason for our success!!!

Mary StonerI am so sorry to see Carlos leave the Indians, he was a great first baseman and all around good player and was one of my favorites. It would be difficult to turn down $20 million a year. I am also sad to think that $12 million a year and fan loyalty are not important. I guess I am getting sentimental, old fashioned and out of touch with professional athletes. Best of luck to you.

Mary SimmonsNoooo! Stop busting up our incredible infield, these guys are an incredible team with a dynamic that got us to Game 7 of the WS and a 22 game streak. Don't be like the Browns.

Zack GermanI will miss Carlos, but 3 years, $60 million, with an option worth $17.5 million? Wow. That's a worrisome indicator for the 1B market, but hopefully the Indians can find a bargain or an internal replacement and spend money elsewhere.

Jeff HarrellI’ve always liked him. But he’s definitely never been one of our best players. His defense improved a lot last year. His bat has always been inconsistent. And I feel he is past his prime. I don’t blame him for taking the money, but I feel we will be better spreading that money out. Love Kipnis too, but we could be better without him.

Deb BradyGreat first baseman. I remember, just a couple years ago, we made a lot of changes. A lot of guys came to the team that I never heard of and I thought..wow, this season is going to suck, who are these guys? Well, they sure showed me that I was wrong. I ll miss Carlos. Love to watch him play first base; what a stretch. I wish him well in Philly and it will be interesting to see our team next season.

Ragoni TonyI'm going to miss his performing below expectations for a power position annually. 22 HR and 75 RBI annually for a guy who I believed in for the first 6 years, who was expected to replace Vmart and put up THOSE kind of numbers. He wasn't even close. In other words, I'm glad he's gone. Good riddance.
