Bret EpicOkay, so a lot of the hate Tebow receives has to do with being vocal about his religious beliefs and the whole "Tebow Pose." I am an Atheist (not bragging, but is relevant) and I feel that he is more than welcome to express himself as he pleases(often, the Tebow pose is interpreted as religious). He is a phenomenal athlete, regardless of his track record. He was good enough to make it to the NFL and the MiLB. Not many can say the same, and while many hopes he fails, I hope he thrives. He won't be a superstar and might never make it to the majors, but he continues to push forward. If nothing else, his efforts are respectable.

Dan BradleyIt's not jealousy, it's not anti-Christian nonsense, people hate Tebow because he's famous for being not really that good at anything. He's not a professional baseball player. He was barely a professional football player. He's a Kardashian. And he's here to distract you with his nonsense until the next thing comes along, everybody forgets he's in the minor leagues and THAT'S when he'll quit. When you're not looking anymore. He's an actor.

But it's a shame he went to the jets. I think it's not that he doesn't have the talent or skill, it's just that he wasn't given the same chances say Eli manning or his brother had to fail a little bit. When Eli joined the giants he wasn't very good either. But baseball is working out well.

Mark Reynolds wasnt projected as the Rockies 1st baseman. Ian Desmond was. Desmond was hurt in spring training and Reyolnolds has torn the cover off the ball while above average defense. Since he isnt on the ballot, he has to be written in. In addition to way to early ballots, fans are allowed 5 votes per day, per email address for months before the game. Complete joke of a system.

Blair Reichert WilsonI am a life-long Cub fan, but I have to say that Jim is one of my VERY favorite ballplayers and it's because of the incredible relationship he had with his mom and how she was such a huge part of his love for the game. When my son was just starting high school and playing ball, I saw an article about Jim and his mom. I was a divorced mom raising a baseball-crazy boy and I've always loved the game too. It's been our bond and our comfort and our happiest times through a very difficult life for both of us. I know when Jim lost his mom, he was of course devastated. But he knew he'd always carry her values and love for him and the game with him. I respect that so much and as a mom, it helped me to hang in there. My son is a grown man now, 28 years old. We talk baseball all the time, almost daily and we still love going to games together. I hope someday that I'm able to tell Jim what he and his mom meant to me and my son.

Swing Evolution - MLB Central

Jose SalinasThome does a great job of explaining getting the hands started, but these guys never mention the grip! A golfer knows the beginning of his swing begins with the correct angle grip and baseball hitters should begin with the same angle grip! That's why I invented the Hawk-Sal Inner Baseball Gloves patented and developed to help in hitting and fielding! The gloves designed to help fix all mechanical flaws in hitting and fielding!

Avatar

Kevin J. McKennaJosh has great trajectory angle n Thome had the hands ready. Then his power surely was incredible. Since I'm a Cubs fan I see Rizzo's swing daily. Plate coverage is amazing as he dares u to throw inside. He gets hit and they know that and later on the try to go outer half and he can bury it. He hasn't learned to eyeball like Donaldson as much yet therefore his average suffers some but Rizzo could hit 300, however average doesn't mean so much these days.

Avatar

Daniel FetterThe difference in Thome's back foot from early to late in his career. Early it's the Harper style of gaining ground, and late with the phillies he's still way back on it and it doesn't pick up. So crazy about how hitting is so different. Why I love the game

Francisco Salcido Jr.I think each Position for the All-Star Game should be determined by the Players Statistics, Averages. In other words the best player (leading the league in that position) should go to the All-Star Game. Let the Fans determine the rest of the team, but starting Lineup should be the best at that position!

Jeff DuncanGood drill! Too many guys trying to teach young ( JV/ HS) kids to start the hands low and elevate the ball. 150 lb kids can't hit the ball out. Preach down through, not elevate. Line drives. You aren't teaching big leaguers.

Maybe nobody remembers him, much less his #, but I do! I'm sure he wears that in tribute. I'd like to hear someone ask him that question. He looks like he could make his dads # famous!?

Anthony GonzalesToo many people out there thinking they got it all figured out because they listened to Josh Donaldson in a 5 minute clip. There have been .220 hitters that have swung up through the ball in every decade. Now they've just decided to teach the youth players to give it a try Haha. Hit the ball on a line is a good starting point. Then you can elevate when your big and strong enough. If the drop and drive approach was that easy everybody would be hitting jacks.

Brian MeyerOne of the biggest misconstrued ideas about baseball hitting is that OPS is important. It is irrelevant, misleading and misguiding. EX) A great hitter could have an excellent BA (.497) but do like Ty Cobb, Pete Rose, or Ichiro and get a multitude of base hit singles (4000+) but could also have a horrendous SLG PCT for lack of having a scarcity of extra base hits (double and beyond) and let's say has a (.120) SLG PCT. This would make his OPS= (.617) and at the same time a horrible hitter could have a pitcher's BA ~(.038) but yet usually every hit that he gets of the hits he does happen to get because he happens to hack is a double or beyond and has a SLG PCT of (.995) so his OPS is (1.033) and much higher than the first hitter, who is much better and a legendary hitter but yet his OPS is smaller and only (.617).!!!! Someone now goes and grabs the stats and puts out to the world on MLB Network on TV that the Hitter with the OPS (1.033) is significantly better thant the one with (.617)! In summary OPS is a gimmick baseball stat holds no validity and Baseball Purists should get rid of it as if it were profanity! Solution: don't dilute OBP or BA by combining it with SLG PCT. It is killing Baseball! Get Rid of OPS!!!!
