Michael CaseI met and spoke to a former longtime member of the Phillies today, who played for them, managed, directed minor leagues, scouted and what not...and I probed his mind on a few things and he did say you can stunt some ballplayers development by rushing them unfortunately, unless they are athletes who have the wherewithal to overcome early struggles with straight up freakish athleticism or smarts, because ive been a proponent of not wanting to suffer through this current bunch of placeholders and just bring up the kids. He did say i had a point that September callups is not long enough to gauge if a player can handle being a pro ball player and before we fill any holes with free agents, we should see what we have...but then he concluded with this... No matter what they are selling you on MLB network or Bleacher report, this farm system is devoid of major league talent. He hopes some of them prove this wrong, but he and the experienced scouts who have seen the current group from Reading and LV, AND a few of the current big leaguers collected in trades, believe there is not a single safe bet in the system. And that shocked and saddened me. Cuz personally i like some of those kids but makes me wonder if I bought into the message they were sending.

Chris KonawelI wouldn't call anyone on this team an all star. Including neshek. While a good pitcher who's having a great year lets not kid ourselves into anything other than ideal usage for him so we can get maximum trade value. That said neshek is about the only one worth paying to see. So by default I guess that makes him an all star.

John KevinThe losing Sixers team did play tough and they had heart and spirit, basically across the board with every player...this Phillies team does not have that...they seem much more like a group of individuals who show up for practice & games, but they do not appear to be a unified team of players and coaches. Maybe a couple guys don't seem happy about the losing, but there are far, far, far too many players and coaches who seem very, very comfortable with just going about their business day after day while losing over and over again...that is what is far more troubling and hard to watch than having the worst record.
