Shelby Mengel BowenThis may be a bit much but I’m done with baseball and the Phillies. Freddy was my favorite player and I just bought his jersey last season. How can people say “just an average player?” His athleticism is so good and he was pretty much the best player on the team. So how does he get traded but Franco and Hernandez get to stay? This organization has no clue as to what they’re doing and they just lost a fan right here.

Giacomo Guiseppe Marvasi Jr.We all knew it was coming. We just have to ask ourselves, is it a good trade? Let’s see...A 28 y/o GG Defender and Club Leader who will never be better than a .255 hitter with poor OBP for a 22 y/o unproven pitcher who apparently has electrifying stuff. This is baseball guys, sounds like a good deal to me, especially considering we have Crawford who also has great defense but a bigger upside offensively. Freddy was an awesome guy, BUT we needed him to be a bit more. His offensive production was abysmal and he had more opportunity than anyone on the club to turn it around. I loved his intensity and attitude but the numbers just weren’t there. All the best Freddy. Prove me wrong.

I'll betcha Freddy does better with the Padres and we will be watching him play in the playoffs next season, just like we watched Blanton, Worley, Neshek, Utley, Giles, and Madson this past postseason.

And he was the best team leader who always brought hope and encouragement to the team through our struggles! His batting may not have been spectacular but he held his own and contributed!!! More than just batting averages.......things like spirit and drive and heart, caring more about the team than you do about yourself. Have lost any enthusiasm about watching the Phillies now. PS. I won't forget Freddy's name in a few years.
